This system that takes the name from Henry Labouchere, a wealthy British politician who invented it in the 19th century, is perhaps one the most complicated roulette strategies available to gamblers. However, for those players who have the will to understand and put it into practice, this fascinating strategy can be very pleasurable, providing you are a patient player and have enough time when actually playing it. It's not a system for those players who want to make big wins in a short time, but an excellent system to be played at online casinos by peaceful gamblers from the comfort of their home.

In the Labouchere Roulette System you must have an amount in mind, any reasonable amount, you woud like to win.

Then you write down a series of numbers in which you add the first to the last, and bet on the sum of both. If you win, you erase the two numbers and add two new numbers ad the edges, that is, at the beginning and at the end of the list.

If you lose, then you sum up the two numbers at the end of the list, and the new number that will be added to the first number at the beginning of the list. Anyway, continue reading as it's better explained below.

The Labouchere is a negative progression system - where the player increases the bets after losing.

How the Labouchere system works

The Labouchere system is to be played exclusively on even bets that pay 1:1, that is to say those placed on red/black, even/odd or on the group of numbers 1-18 / 19-36.

Pick up a number, any number, which is basically the amount you want to win

Try to start with a low number as this won’t involve placing too many risky stakes.

Just as an example, let’s say the amount chosen is €20.

Once this has been decided, you then need a pen and paper and jot down a series of numbers that add up to 20. Similar to the example provided below:

2 – 4 – 6 – 6 – 2

These numbers can be ordered in any way you like, so long as the total adds up to the amount you’d like to win.

This is how to bet

The first bet is calculated by adding the first number in the sequence together with the last. Using the example above, this would total €4 (2+2).
If you’re successful and have a winning bet, you can now strike a line through the first and last number – just like you see in the picture provided above.

2 – 4 – 6 – 6 – 2

Should you lose this initial bet, the total amount that has been bet will be added to the end of the sequence before the cycle repeats. In our example, this would make the total stake €6 (2 + 4).
An example of this can be seen below:

2 – 4 – 6 – 6 – 2 - 4

Because the cycle repeats itself, all you have to do is crossing out numbers when you win, and add the stake back when you lose, until no numbers remain.
When this happens, you’ll have won the total amount you set out to win, in this case €20.

Pros: The Labouchere system is perfect for playing at online casinos, in the comfort of your home, without any rush and the distractions as with land-based casinos.

Cons: The system works fine, provided you have sufficient capital, therefore a large supply of chips. If for example you play the system with a limit of €10, a poor run of just three losses on the spin would result in you going bust.

Suggestion: it’s much better to spread your bets thinly across a larger sequence of numbers, rather than going all in on one or two bets. If playing with a limited amount of chips, you may also want to consider setting your target number a little lower.
